About

My research focuses, broadly speaking, on the migration and circulation of literary genres, forms, and texts across European space and the way they shape cultural production in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Russia. I am also interested in the movement of ideas and in the ways information travels between Europe and Russia and within the Russian Empire. Recent relevant publications include the monograph Writing Fear: Russian Realism and the Gothic (University of Toronto Press, 2022) and the co-edited volume Information and Empire: Mechanisms of Communication in Russia, 1600-1850 (Open Book Publishers, 2017).
